meddle v3

Shit, weird stuff, i posted this thread last night and it was added, but now it's not in the database. Obviously no one could have seen it. So I add it again. Weird.

I'm doing v3: http://meddle.dzygn.com/v3/

I really like what you have till now, love the colors and the hole design, nice nav...

about the code... only one thing I saw...

code:
<div id="header">
</div>

you should fill that div with something... title and stuff and then replace by an image with js or only css...

i agree, bad code there, thanx. in fact menu was there but then i moved it to a new div and forgot to fill in that one.

any improvements in design/layout?
btw, it's been my main effort to reduce dhtml as much as possible (only used for zoom, adding images to menu and few more)

Looks good. I like the navigation, it's a bit strange, but still intuitive.

Some minor complaints:
* I don't like the line-throughs on the visited links.. it makes the text hard to read
* About the <a id="text></a> thingy, you can poin't the skip navigation link to #content as well.
* Is there a way for you to remove the <div class="entry"> tags?
* I think there should be only one h1, which contains the title of the page. For example: meddle: weblog. You can use h2 for weblog entries.
* The zoom2.js file throws a 404
* Are you sure about accesskeys?
* I'm not too fond of the header image.

I think that was it

>line-throughs on the visited links
yeah, i htink i'll simply change color, i dont like them either

>you can point the skip navigation link to #content as well
yes, you are right, thanx

>remove the <div class="entry"> tags?
so far no. i still have to optimize a bit more the whole code. The point is selectors in IE, you know.

>I think there should be only one h1
Yeah, but just one question: how does Google analize pages? I thought it gave a lot of importance to h1 (setting words from there as keywords). Not sure about h2-h6. If it takes all words from all h's then i'll do what you say.

>The zoom2.js file throws a 404
blame on me, should have been zoom.js. You have to see the Zoom tool now

>Are you sure about accesskeys?
Yes, I am. Although I might change to ALT+number according to Mark Pilgrim. Thanx for the link.

What exactly is the problem with IE and the selectors? I'm too lazy to check your CSS now, but I managed to have margin's between the headings and the paragraphs without using div's. I didn't even hack the CSS (well, not really )

Image zoom is pretty nice. Remember to set an overflow: hidden on the image container to prevent scrollbars.

overflow: hidden is already there, but mozilla keeps adding the scrollbars
for IE and selectors check: http://css.maxdesign.com.au/selectutorial/ (Also, I could remove the class, but not the div, for structural reasons)
thanx

Sergi, I am well aware of the lack of support for selectors in IE. But haven't you got a heading tag as the first one in the entry? You can use that tag for the top margin's.

Another thing, div.info is only filled with one UL element. Why don't you apply the style to the UL element then?

I'm not sure why the image jumps in Mozilla. You might use an interval, instead of the onmousemove event (like Aaron does in his dom-drag). Also, it'd be pretty neat if you could click on the "tracer" to quickly jump to that area of the picture.

I'm not sure what's your question now. In case you're suggesting to delete div class="entry" level, I won't for structural reasons, not for the style.

It's eventually filled with one li, but will/can have more elements in the future.
