Looks nice

I don't like the white that appears under the link of the current page though; imo would be better to use a darker colour, say the colour under the main text?

agree with chris...

also, make the main photo change as u go to different sections of the site...it is rather boring just staring at that mountain photo after a while...
since this is a showcase/portfolio of urself...u should keep in mind the goal is to make the site interesting so the user wants to click around to find out more about the owner of the site and to see ur work....

Nice... but may I ask why the elements are so not semantic?

code:
<div id="header">
<a href="index.html" class="head"></a>
</div>

<div id="menu">
<a href="index.html" class="menuone"><img src="hovone.jpg" alt="" /></a>
<a href="work.html" class="menusec"></a>
<a href="about.html" class="menuthi"></a>
<a href="resp.html" class="menufou"></a>
</div>

<div id="body">
<div id="content1">
<p class="header">START</p>

Where are the heading items? h1? h2? Where's the text for the links?

h1 and h2 sucks imo. I rather use p with classes..

I use only images for the nav, cause...smoother font.

hehehe Henke!

That is sooo wrong! H1 should be used for the main header, H2 subheader etc. That's what they're there for. Using P elements are, as Mark said, completely semantically incorrect. Check it out in a browser with just the markup, and it'll look terrible as there'll be no structure.

henke: when you want to use images for a smoother font, you should still have the basic text there to make it accessible for those who can't render images. Then by all means dynamically change the text to images to make it prettier. But the site has to be functional with markup alone. Have you considered sIFR? (Had to get a plug in there somewhere for Mark )

yeah, I know how to use the H1 and H2, but I alwys get this spacing problem with it, a huge empty space under the H1 to the reagular P. That's why I don't use H1.
Do you mean I should still have the text for link example start, work and so, under the images?
About sIFR, I don't know what it's, I have tho read about it, but that's all.
I try to make my sites so good coded as possible with valid webstandard code and all that, but my first priority is the design and not the code..

this may be valid code, but it's not semantically correct. You should, imo, priorotise semantics above validity. the h1 and h2 spacing problem can be solved with css; adjust the margin and properties.

as for the images, I mean have no images for links in the html. then replace the text with images using css or java script or a combination of the two. there is a tutorial for this on a list apart .

sIFR is just something that changes basic ascii text to flash text. see mark's site for details. at the end of the day, its your site so you can do whatever you like with it, these are just my opinions on how to improve it.

okidoki.

what should I change on the site then, so it would be sematics and valid, H1 and...

I will make a try on the menu. I think everyone as Geogria so I wont get any problem with the font, but I dont want any jiggy text in the menu.

download something like lynx (a text-based browser), and see what the site looks like. its just commonsense really. if it's a header, use h1. for a subheader, use h2. for a sub-subheader, use h3 etc. for a paragraph of text, use p. for tabulated data, use table.

then once the html is all nice, you can start work on the css and java script, to make the site actually look nice. just read round weblogs and sites and you'll soon see what you need to do.

well no, not really.

1) the id attributes could be better... they should reflect what they are about. div id="body"... why not just use the <body> tag? the content1 and content2 attributes... content1 is more of an introduction so why not label it "intro"? do the same sort of thing with content2.

2) br elements.. I really dont have a clue why they're there.. <h2><br />05.15.2005</h2>?!

3) you seem to be closing one too many div elements at the end.

4) <h3>// Henrik</h3> apart from this being the wrong element (there has been no h2 yet), why is it even a header at all? its sort of like your signature at the end.. its not a header for a further paragraph of text or anything.

the h2 structure in content2 is ok though
